Donate meals - Akshaya Patra

The Akshaya Patra Foundation

Donate to touch millions of lives.

The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a not-for-profit based in India. We dedicate our efforts to addressing the pressing issue of classroom hunger in partnership with the Government of India, various state governments, corporates, philanthropists and individual contributors.

Your contribution serves nutritious mid-day meals at school every day, incentivising millions of children to attend regular classes and encouraging parents to send their children to school. This, in turn, translates to a higher enrolment rate, regular attendance, improved nutritional profile and enhanced academic performance of school-going children while reducing the dropout rate in schools.

After government subsidies and grants, each mid-day meal costs ₹6.56 and a child in a government school eats for an entire academic year for ₹1,500.

Your contribution ensures that a child does not have to choose between nutrition and education.

Support us for a Nourished India, Educated India.

Why do we need donations?

The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a proud implementing partner of the government’s flagship PM POSHAN programme to improve children’s nutrition profile and bring them closer to education.

While the cooking cost, including raw materials and fuel, is reimbursed by the Central and state governments, funds required towards other aspects of the programme, such as distribution and administrative expenses, are sourced by the Foundation from the donors.

Working with the government and donors, Akshaya Patra has been successful in making the programme a trusted, respected and appreciated public- private partnership in the social sector.
